The Inktense range from Derwent is a versatile collection of art supplies known for their vibrant, ink-like pigments that transform when activated with water, meaning you can draw in watercolour.
Available as pencils and blocks, Inktense products are very popular due to their rich colours, providing smooth blending and a permanent finish once dry.
Get creative. Don't just stick to paper (although we have an excellent range of watercolour pads!), as you can draw or paint on a variety of surfaces, including paper, fabric, and even wood.
They ooen amazing creative possibilities for both watercolor effects and detailed, dry techniques. The Inktense range is a favorite among artists looking to add colour depth and vibrancy to their artwork.
Inktense Pencils
Broad Canvas stocks Derwent Inktense pencils in metal tins ranging from 12 to 72 pencils, but we also sell the entire colour range separately too. The tins offer artists a convenient and durable storage solution for when you need to create on your travels. There is a wide selection of vivid-coloured pencils, that transform into ink-like washes when activated with water.
Each pencil features a soft, smooth core that delivers rich, intense color, allowing for both detailed work and broad washes. The colours become permanent once dry, meaning you layer your art without reactivating previous layers, adding real depth effects if needed. This also makes the Inktense pencils ideal for mixed media, watercolor techniques, and even for creating art on fabric.
Inktense Blocks
Derwent Inktense Blocks & the larger XL Blocks combine the brilliant colours of Inktense pencils, with the application style of pastels - making it easy to cover large areas really quickly. You can use these watercolour blocks dry or add a drop of water to create lovely and rich watercolour style washes. Inktense is richer so doesn't wash away like watercolour, meaning they can be worked over without affecting the layers underneath. Absolutely excellent for fine art or craft projects - even on fabric or ceramic.
Inktense is available in 2 sizes of watercolour blocks: the slim and controllable 8mm blocks, or XL Blocks which are chunky, pastel-like 20mm blocks. They are ergonomically designed for great in-hand control.
