Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour Whole Pan

Brand: Winsor & Newton

The Winsor and Newton Professional Watercolour paint is available in a range of 108 different colours sizes available in a wide range of formats. Henry Newton and William Winsor introduced the first moist watercolour to the world in 1832 and since then the Winsor & Newton Artists Watercolour range has been developed to achieve the best  possible permanence, within a wide range of well balanced pigments.

Single pigments are used whenever possible thus creating a cleaner and purer colour. The binding medium used is the highest quality Gum Arabic called Gum Kordofan from acacia trees in Africa.

Large Range of Single Pigment Colours: Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour range features the finest pigments which are known in artist circles for their colour strength, brilliance and permanence. With 79 single pigment colours, Winsor & Newton offer the widest range of modern and traditional pigments.

Unrivalled Transparency: Winsor & Newton create their paints using only the highest quality production methods, for optimal pigment dispersion. Professional Watercolour paints offer unrivalled transparency, meaning that every wash remains vibrant and luminescent.

Lightfast and Permanent: 104 out of 108 colours in the Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour range are classed as 'permanent for artists' use'. This means that 96% of the Professional Watercolours are rated AA or A for permanence. This ensures that the colours used today will keep vibrant and fixed for generations to come.

Watercolour intermixibility | Winsor & Newton Masterclass

Using wet and dry surfaces, we use our range of watercolours with each other, from pan colours to markers and watercolour sticks, to show the variety of marks that can be achieved. A dry surface with a marker leaves a bold line but using the marker on wet paper makes for a more subtle mark. The same is true to varying degrees for all of the watercolours, a wet surface always creates a softer mark. Another technique is to dip the marker or watercolour stick in water and apply that to a dry surface for a bold, strong effect. Using all of these different techniques together can lead to some surprisingly interesting results.
