Daler Rowney Rabbit Skin Size 28g

The Daler Rowney Rabbit Skin Size is used in preparing painting surfaces prior to oil priming. Also used with Daler Rowney Original Gesso Powder.

This is a dried glue that can be hydrated and spread over a canvas in order to 'size' it, meaning it tightens the canvas once dry. You can then use an oil-based primer before using oil paints as normal – but not acrylic paints as these could flake off the canvas. On what will be a flatter canvas than what can be achieved with a typical acrylic gesso, a skilled painter can use much more detailed brush strokes in their art.
